Death was not part of God’s plan. Jesus came to conquer it (1 Corinthians 15:26), and every grave reminds us to prepare for His return.

Public deeds can be measured, but true repentance, motives, and faith are judged by God alone (1 Samuel 16:7; 2 Corinthians 5:10). That’s why our posture must be one of humility and reverence when any precious soul passes to their rest.

Scripture forbids praying to the dead (Deuteronomy 18:10–12), and says, “There is one God and one Mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus” (1 Timothy 2:5). Mary was certainly blessed, but now she rests in the grave awaiting the resurrection.

The idea that one can pay or perform religious acts to reduce punishment for sin is nowhere found in the Bible. “The blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin” (1 John 1:7).
